Appearing At The Magic Castle

Austin magician Brad Henderson to appear at Hollywood’s world-famous Magic Castle.

The Magic Castle is a Los Angeles landmark. Situated in the Hollywood Hills behind the famous Mann’s/Grauman’s Chinese Theater, The Magic Castle is one of the world’s most exclusive private clubs. Not only is there a strict dress code, and I mean strict (coats and ties for men, evening attire for women), admission is also granted only by personal invitation.

The Magic Castle is a club for magicians. Founded in 1963 by Bill and Milt Larsen, The Castle, as it is called by members, is often referred to as the Mecca of magic. Not only have dedicated magicians from all over the world packed up their lives and relocated to be nearer the legends who have made the Castle their home, the club hosts some of the greatest magicians in the world, nightly, on the Castle’s many stages.

The Palace of Mystery, the largest stage, features larger scale acts like illusionists and stage manipulators. Here one might see a comedic take on the famous sawing a lady in half, or witness in awe as a floating lady vanishes over your head. And yes, it’s almost always a lady; magic is an ancient art, and these things take time.

The Parlour of Prestidigitation is a medium sized theater home to modern interpretations of magic similar to those one may have witnessed in the Victorian drawing rooms of a by gone age. Sleight-of-hand, comedy, and audience participation can usually be found in the shows featured here, but the jewel in the Castle’s crown is The Close-Up Gallery.

The Close-Up Gallery is the most intimate performance space in the Castle. Sitting less than two dozen individuals, the magic is occurring, literally, right in front of your eyes. It is, in some ways, the most revered performance space in the castle, as it is the oldest of all of the theaters. Some of magic’s most talented and respected performers have sat behind that iconic green table. It is an honor to be asked to perform in any capacity at the castle, and it is always an exciting and daunting privilege to be asked to headline the close-up room.

I am excited to announce that I will be the featured performer in the esteemed Close-Up Gallery at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood, California for the week of April 4th-10th.

If you are going to be in Los Angeles during that time, drop me a line and I will make sure you get a guest pass that will allow you to have dinner and see the shows, including mine.

If you would like to see the show but are not going to be in Hollywood, you have two options:

I will be presenting the show at a local venue sometime prior to departing. Follow me on Facebook for details as they become available, or bring me to your house or office for a private showing at an exclusive pre-departure rate. Get in touch for a perfect evening of magic for you and your friends.
